Untitled - 1999

On the floor a shopping bag randomly pours its provision of tin metal fragments exposing their many reflecting surfaces. Inside the bag a flashing road light which seems to have been diverted from its usual function to warn of imminent danger or an emergency. Projected onto the opposite wall, is the sneering image of a skull snapping its jaws. This Vanity has purposely not been given any title, indeed the sign printed on the shopping basket already shows us the signifier. This printed image acts as a subtitle to the main image. The image explains the image.
